April: A Ghazal

Hyacinth-hemmed, the road to April's smile:

on a rain-wrecked day, this ode

to April's smile.

A bouquet of thanks to the All-Capable Maker

of lively things, who showed

me April's smile!

For years I trudged through scorched & stinging sand,

but now I've found an abode

near April's smile.

I speak the lingo of a grayhaired schoolboy:

amen & hallelujah! is my code

for April's smile.

Her face (I almost said "her countenance")

is choicest wine. Bordeaux'd

by April's smile!

An ever-fresh surprise, perpetually young!

I lift the easy load

of April's smile.

Lasting treasure, prized beyond rubies & pearls:

no blight or rust will corrode

sweet April's smile.

Springtime star! Lyric light! Midnight moon!

Orion's belt has never glowed

like April's smile!

Tom, gather your wits to praise Miss Primavera:

fireworks blossom, rosebuds explode

at April's smile!

Very nice!

one trick pony The PoetBay support member heart!
A laudable pean to a laudable month, and more than a month, a way of looking at month. We don't all see it so cheerily.
