Lullabys of Birdland

Jazz breakfast.

No aficionado,

I've got the TV tuned

to MusicChoice.

Art Blakey

and the Jazz Messengers.

Sunrise is a gray

muffle, a pillow

I'd love to go back to.

I'm drinking water.

Hope it refreshes me

for the morning's doings.

I have to see Ben

at the Fairgrove rehab.

He needs his license

for MassHealth.

My brain is pleading

for more bed,

another forty or

four thousand winks.

Not today.

Gotta get a move on.

The music changes:

"Stella by Starlight."

Lullabys of Birdland,

will you wake me up today

and give me the get-up-and-

go I need to get going?
