I'm In

Hop on a boxcar, Frisco-bound? I'm in!

Another hand, another round? I'm in.

Somebody help me! Take me home with you.

Retrieve me from the Lost & Found I'm in.

O Pisan Canto-maker, turn me loose!

Unleash me from the snarling Pound I'm in.

Hapless soldier amid the dogs of war,

What is this Trojan horse or hound I'm in?

Amid sunbathers on the steaming beach,

I love this crowd, supine and browned, I'm in!

I'm hypnotized by a myriad of mirrors:

Amazing, this Versailles, sun-crowned, I'm in.

Retreatant at the Spencer abbey-cloister,

I rejoice at the peace (O sacred ground!) I'm in.

Loudspeakers blaring Pomp and Circumstance:

Is this Commencement, capped-and-gowned, I'm in?

We'll always have Paris. Here's looking at you, kid.

Name the old movie, tinseltown'd, I'm in!

"Come to the reading by the Bee Hive Poets

Whose words enthrall, enchant, astound!" "I'm in!"

Save me, Holy One: waters rise to my neck:

I swim toward land from the deep sound I'm in.

To be able to rattle off such a fine, amusing poem at 2:30 in the morning, you must drink a lot of coffee. When I get up a half hour later to go work at Target, I'm rarely in a poetic frame of mind.

Very pleasing. I was particularly taken by the third stanza, and walking around the house saying, "unPound me." I have far too much Pound lying about.
