Inspired by "Nighthawks" a painting by Edward Hopper.

Flames of melancholy

I found your name in melancholy
burning in the flames
it was your love you gave to me
but nothing stays the same.

I'm sitting at a night hawk's bar
retreating from the day
yes my glass is always full
Is it better any other way?

I'm waiting for the sky to break
on a night that only condemns
all the time looking back
just looking forward to the end.

And in between every bottle
and the empty glass I fill
just broken pieces of my heart
that I fail to keep concealed.
