Branches

Late nights, cold nights, warm evenings
under the meeting of those branches
under the changing firmament of the starry sky
and the changing hue of blue to black

I leave my footsteps there
leaning against the wall
waiting for the metro

by now
this wall knows me
those branches sing with me

by now

this view

looking up through those branches
into the depths of the universe

has burnt itself into my memory

this reliably unchanging feature of my life

on my way home
