Otterly beautiful! :>)

Otters Roll

Late February afternoon,
in North America display
close off flamingo-full lagoon,
three furry river otters play.

In North America display,
within a pen with pond and stream,
three furry river otters play,
their eyes aglow, their coats agleam.

Within a pen with pond and stream,
they play at raucous water stunts,
their eyes aglow, their coats agleam,
their cheers low chuckles or bass grunts.

They play at raucous water stunts,
the swiftest swim and deepest dive,
their cheers low chuckles or bass grunts,
till four o'clock, or even five.

The swiftest swim and deepest dive,
that's just the way the otters roll,
till four o'clock, or even five,
and then they rest on ferny knoll.

That's just the way the otters roll,
close off flamingo-full lagoon
and then they rest on ferny knoll,
late February afternoon.

Beautifully done, e. I've seen otters in the wild a couple of times, and they act the same way.

Delightful pantoum E. It seems particularly appropriate and evocative of the way I imagine, and you describe, otters play.

I get the feeling that this is a particular form poetry, but I can't for the life of me remember which it is :) Nevertheless, this is beautifully expressed, as always... a joy to read.
