There are times when ill-health prevents outings, so we take trips in our minds instead.
Here we revisit a series started a few years ago, beginning with a rewrite of our opening sonnet. Two further pieces follow. Ms Bird distributes popcorn :>)

Mussorgsky ambles through the bustling halls
of Russia's grand Fine Arts Academy,
perusing pictures, on imposing walls,
by Hartmann, cherishing the memory
of that dear friend, whom aneurysm took
too early, at the age of thirty-nine,
a shock so vast, St Peter's city shook
from highest spire to deepest darkest shrine;
yet here he finds some solace in the art,
four hundred treasures ease the grip of grief,
and hastens home with purpose at his heart
to celebrate a life so very brief;
six weeks fly by, his own work is complete
the Pictures at an Exhibition suite.

Glorious! The equal of Mussorgsky's symphony.
