Is haiku a gateway poem?

Pusher

I know,

You don’t read poetry

And you don’t have time.

If I feed you poems

Little by little

Starting with haiku

And short little ditties;

Moving on to longer,

Cheerful, rhyming poems;

Then free-form,

Full of metaphor and imagery—

Will you turn away?

Or, like an addict,

Will you move on to the hard stuff—

Will you read a villanelle?

one trick pony The PoetBay support member heart!
i'm sorry, but mitch mcconnell and ted cruz have introduced legislation banning the use of villanelles, and trump is building a wall around them (and you'll have to pay for it).

bummer.

and anyway, you know what steppenwolf said about the pusher—
he said, "goddam! goddam the pusher-man!"

otherwise, go for it.
