Very Well

Perhaps it is a penchant for tenths
An old Roman predilection from a previous turn
Could be the Orient blood, water and stone,
Don't know, don't know, don't know
Only suspect,

Something in the backward intoning of certain vowels
Words spoken at oddly rhythmic intervals, too subliminal
For conscious detection, revealing the lay of the land
Opening close upon further inspection
Don't know, don't know, don't know
Only suspect,

(Disregard all of the above, (you),

I know very well.

I don't know about this poem, I only suspect.
