When Life Hurts

On days when life hurts too much to bear
I drift away to the sea
I strip away my clothes
and let go of everything i own

everything I hope to be
everything others have hoped of me.
Until I feel the connection
the profound contact

with the water and the surf
the warm trouch of the sun
the earth and the sky above

There I float for hours motionless
I laugh at ambition
And know that my pain
is the result of the weight
of my own expectations

I find meditative calmness in your poem. :)

with softness and so delicately you describe each step, revealing emotions and images so pure to see and feel. This is very moving. Your words evoke and emote and cause me to share in this event. I am moved. lovely poetry dear poet. kathy

The sea always soothes me - a swimming pool never has that effect but swimming in the sea, I am a mermaid again - the beautiful balance of the aquatic calm that we need - beautiful

The sea is a great sanctuary as you have portrayed beautifully.

What a beautiful way to be. Take all your problems to the sea.
Float them all away. All the expectations and the anguish just go out with the tide. A wonderful piece.

This is wonderful, Ashe. I love the way that it's written. I'm thousands of miles from any ocean, but I do the same thing in my pool each afternoon.
