THE FIELDS OF KENT (adishans)

Years a go I were coal miner
in Kent - a county - uselessly
referred as the garden of England
fruit trees - apple and pair - hops
those tending to the hops - used
stilts - so became known as - Stiltmen
fields of lavender - roses - daffodils - tulips
veges - potatoes - cabbages - peas
any veg that comes to mind - grew
in the fields of Kent - way back then

None - well very few can imagine - Kent once had a coal field!
but not so long ago Kent did! - I was one who worked
a mile down underground
my face blackened by coal dust
sweat - impregnated around my eyes
those who know nothing
when I met up with them - in London
would ask me how I applyde my mascara - so well!

Now no coal field - long gone
the fields of flowers - veg - hops
vanishing under tarmac - concrete - shopping centers - housing
the years have not been kind to - Kent

There is nothing more interesting than a true life story. There is always change. It must have been so hard working down there. Thanks for sharing this my friend.

So sad. The field has given so much, but humans want only to destroy nature to build more and more and bigger useless homes.
The poem is like a picture show accelerated over years.
