Tropical storms are just below hurricanes in intensity. They breed tornadoes, high winds rain and flooding. All one can do is batten down and .... Wait.

Hermine

Waiting
All defences up
Gnawing feeling
You could do more

Reports trickle in
Reconnaissance
Conflicting data
No predictability

History no solas
Waiting
For it to show its teeth
On someone else

To measure its ferocity
Against a familiar scale
Waiting
Screenshots show
It's hypnotic shape

Riot of primary colours
A tease to its temper
A gargantuan top
Spinning mindlessly

All bluff and bluster
Or raging killer
Waiting
Devastation its stock in trade

Your last stanza sums it up perfectly. The rest describes its ferocity and the fear it generates. Beautifully done.
