Liquid

Looks like rain today,
looks like rain tomorrow too.
This placid lake is now a stormy ocean,
and I make my way across the water
begging you not to drown.

Or drown me.

When you're up, you're up and up and up,
when you're down, you drag me down
and though patience is my only virtue,
I can only take so much.

Looks like rain today,
and you will soak me to the bone
with tears and blood and lust.

I wonder if I truly feel all this,
or if I'm only wet.

But I beg you not to drown.
Or drown me.
