Membrane

The silences between us are getting longer, dear

The membrane has settled

You can just see it

If you listen carefully

Building ever so gradually

You can hear the mortar crumbling

As we face one another

As we tell each other its ok

As we check our watches

As we mark our calendar

As we take a note

That in the aftermath of us

This here

This , was where it started.

Lawrence Beck The PoetBay support member heart!
A really dismal point which often goes unseen. I like this. The first stanza is the description. The second all-too accurately shows the mechanism.

Endings are so sad. I admire your approach. No blame, no anger, just a knowing. lovely poem.
