a progression of smiles (or lack thereof)

year by year
you and her
side by side
grinning into the selfie

what's so sad
your easy smile
that wicked twinkle
dimming
year by year

her smile more forced
rictus teeth
your eyes emptying
year by year
or sunglass shields

didn't dare go back
to check my own
year by year
already saw enough
when atticing photos

Bravo! A very good work, deep, yet, truthfulness within, each line.

Stark and honest, a few perfect lines convey so much about life, aging, the past and present. Lots of hints, hidden within.
