Socket

Just a hello.

Because I wonder -

Did we run out of things to say already?

Was the veil of intrigue torn forever

In the act of meeting in the flesh?

Because I recall, do you? Those times of intrigue

When contact came on email

And the rush of excitement

Was feverish

Playful

Risque

Safe.

But you were always happy with just a hello

I needed to touch beneath the safety blanket

To stick my fingers into the socket

To rip out the guts of the real deal

To become drenched in the same downpour

That saturated your skin

To smell the earth that compacted your cleats

That was damp and sweet with warm rain

But you have made me distracted

You make my heart whimper

And stretch its strings so cruelly past torment

That laments now seem like nursery rhymes

So send me just a hello

And fetch me back from wherever it is

That I have become accustomed to wandering

Because this is not an agreeable state

There is no depth of enjoyment

On this island of scant dreams

You always had the ability to cut through the softness, the miasma, of life. You still have it. This is pointed, and it touches your humanity, and I, for one, feel it.

Ashe The PoetBay support member heart!
I love the first part which is the longing and the need. The second one shows the reality and the depth of feelings in your heart, the need to make the dream a reality, the best, the only way to experience, the touch. Followed by the acceptance and understanding.
This IS electric! Perfect.
