Feeders

Souls flickering around like static
Easily extinguished in a breeze
Struggling to find connection to play those videos, the ones with happy families
Put them on repeat, the ones
Where we all pretend we are stable and complete, a distraction while we starve our minds so we can eat claw away at ourselves
Savouring every last piece
Spitting it out and saying It's not that great
Spreading ourselves all over the plate
Picking and gnawing
Never tasting
Never admitting that we like it
Pressing diamonds in the spaces so we still look whole and complete
when it's all gone and our stomachs are full and our hearts are all empty look for the one that can replenish themselves, nurture them and keep them believing they can grow and once they do become so plump and juicy we harvest them and we eat them too
