After All Has Been Broken

After the storm
After all has been
broken, bruised, beaten and
burnt to the core

The fire leaves the ashes,
Then the dust,
the desire, must
cling and hold on to
what was before

But after the storm
And after all that has been
After all is broken, bruised,
beaten and
burnt -

I still need you
And you still need me.

I won't run.

A poem is a beautiful way to make sense of what is and to accept it as one's own. The comments on your poem also added dimensions and facets to the poem, making it a classic one. A beautiful poem, Ashe.

After many storms things that are familiar are comforting. It is the storm that destroys us, not each other. The metaphor here is powerful and full of wisdom. Hugs.

Very touching and so tender while powerful in it's ability to evoke such feelings, memories, empathy, and the physical welling up of tears for me. I so understand this, Ashe. x

This is nice. Apparently, "all" has not been ruined.

This to me sounds like a mature love, strong and wise. Great.

jim is cynical. your poem is testament that love is enduring. if it weren't, it would be something other than love.

Love is a plague disguised as bliss.
