Corrosion

I have lived through many moons
enough to see the world of ideas sink
into post-modernism and post-truth
I have seen intelligence dissolve
into empty verbalism
that accepts any kind of nonsense
prefaced by 'ancient wisdom'
education, medicine and philosophy
are being corroded by lobbyists
determined to spread stupidity

I almost wish I hadn't lived to see what happened to humanity.
There was a time when I felt hope, but no more.
