Dance of the Avatars

My avatar smiles
Speaks lightly, as she
Touches your shoulder gently
And betrays nothing

Inside, I'm stricken,
Drunk with desire
Wanting to wrap myself in you
And succumb to your power

This is our dance.

Inside, you hide
Revealing in flashes
Your complexity and depth
In barest glimpses

Your avatar smiles
Speaks cheerfully,
Maintaining safe distance
And betraying nothing

We each dance alone.

Well written Nancy. Our outer selves are our avatars. You've captured that very well. Sad that out outer selves are so guarded and afraid to chance a touch or embrace much less the passion you describe in this piece.

i wonder if the avatars are as good at betraying nothing as they believe.

this it very touching. and not touching, which is the sad point.
