Empty Shell

Look in the mirror and see an empty shell

The face of a soldier who's been through hell

Haunting nightmares, you wake up and scream

Keep telling yourself its all a bad dream

Heart racing, heavy breathing, dripping sweat

Twisted blankets, sheets soaking wet

Sit straight up with your face in your hands

Your safe at home, you continously tell yourself

Remembering your buddies, and say farewell

You are feeling guilty cause you made it home

Let the pain go, your free to roam

Looking in the mirror, you see an empty shell

The face of a soldier who's been through hell

Painful memories of battles fought

Night after night your overwrought

Looking in the mirror throw water on your face

Hoping one day you find that safe and happy place

The "empty shell" reference is clever. I can't even pretend to know the feeling.
