There is an opposite to this as well. Are we a blank slate when we are born?
Fill me up.

A Blank Slate

Iím a blank slate.
Fill me up
With your arguments your blame,
The silence and the spite
And expect me not to feel the same.

Iím a blank slateówith scratches.
Tell me what love is,
How it smooths out all cares,
Teach me of forgiveness
And then hold grudges.

Iím a blank slateóchipped at the edges.
Drown me with caution,
Shore up the walls
That holds back the tides,
Until the levy falls.

Iím a blank slateósodden and barely legible.
Still, you grind in your dogmas,
Dry my tears with your sleeve,
Show me how to let go
And leave me.

Iím a blank slateóbroken in two.
Tell me I have to choose,
Say youíll understand,
Force me to pick a path,
Yet act disappointed.

Iím a blank slateó
Warped by heat,
Withered by words,
Lifted by love,
Worn by anger,
Marked by sorrow and time.

Full to the brim
I overflow.
But there is still room.
Let us try again
Iím a blank slate-
Fill me up.

Perhaps we all need a button that we can press to "reinstall" everything and give us that blank slate. As long as we do not lose our nice memories and hopefulness. This is a really good piece. There are so many things we give the young that we should not.

Not really blank anymore, but some things probably can be overwritten.

the metaphors carried with the slate are not the easy ones. i found it yet funny in a way. now about love, you can let your passion flows something i can't maybe because i value much the weigh of that word
