Statue in the Park

The statue in the park
Has seen it all before
Lovers making promises
Knowing what’s in store
Old people feeding pigeons
Who hardly feed themselves
Joggers running to get fit
Later emptying the shelves
Dogs out walking people
Collecting every dropping
Quiet readers lost in books
Power walkers never stopping
But stone can get so very cold
Morning dew wells in his eyes
So every time the sun comes up
This lonely statue cries
