The Opposite of Love

Assemble the night
Design its sole star
His name being one of kings

How lovely you are!
And with a mind
Just a notch below my own
Altogether astonishing.

Utterly, utterly—
Flexible, inventive, fluid, Willing, Fit

to follow me anywhere

But on his terms only
I hope he never guessed
It was not adoration I felt in the end

It was not revulsion; no
It was something far worse—
It was something close to neutrality …

Yes, indifference.

The opposite of love is not hate
but indifference.

During that brief moment
when you were only mine
Your amazing brain!

Your amazing body glowing
In the loamy evening dusk … what?
I placed you on a pedestal out there,

Gently, careful, Oh you are beautiful~
But you’re tired of being admired
Good bye.

Your poem inspired me to write something. Thank you for writing this.

The rational tone in this is similar to the poem LDF3 posted today. Both seem to be wise poems, understanding and coming to terms with a new reality, and being comfortable with it, more than that—being in control, determining your own worth.

Oh, when poets fall in love with poets then and only then will Romeo and Juliet be as real as the rising sun and the setting of grace like the vision of what awaits as the gift of karma! You are an amazing writer that sets my attention on a new level each and every time. Wonderful and very warm yet chilling in its delivery. You're the best. F.E
