Sultry Lady Of Summertime

Only five minutes of rain
The clouds are so miserable
The ground needs moisture
For plant and small animal
The sky painted bright blue
Like an impressionist canvas
Is it my eyes or is it this world
That makes things outlandish?
The sultry lady of summertime
She waits impatient by the door
But her date keeps her waiting
Because heís been there before

Eloquently written. I'm with Ashe, drought is not only devastating for flora and fauna, but for the human psyche as well. The watching, waiting, hoping, and disappointment can be beyond words. A lifetime in agriculture has worn me down with such hope and disappointment.

Drought is what scares me the most. Lack of water means lack of life. How beautifully you announce the waiting of summer. I am not sure when you summer begins, but ours begins in December and we also wait for its arrival while the rest of the world waits for winter. Nice. I can feel that soft warm rain. :)
