Love Story

A girl from our school flung herself
From off the highest floor of our
Newest building and the next day
She’s famous all of a sudden

There’s talk of her on every tongue
Those who barely noticed her
Before she died are wagging them
Howling how in death she’ll be missed

But I know something they don’t know
The secret smile that I was shown

Sympathy soon turns to gossip
Suicide’s a juicy topic
Everyone aims to decipher
Just why she forfeited her life

Perhaps she owed some money to
Men of disrepute? That's not it.
Perhaps she failed the tests and could
No longer show her face at home?
That can't be. Maybe. Maybe, and

As the students go Sherlocking
At home her own parents must be
Full of questions, whys and what fors
And only sorrow their answer

But I know something they don’t know
The secret smile that I was shown

She fell in front of me you see
I saw her right before she died
There was a splat but before that
Oh, how she smiled at me!

Her eyes met mine and mine met hers
I saw her face soon disappeared
I wore her color then and forever
Red looks so good on me

For I know something you don’t know
The secret smile that I was shown.

Intriguing story, very good poem.

Intriguing, sad subject and I would be interested to see where you could take the story.

Very good write. Interesting.
But sad when it comes to suicide.

You should obviously continue this story. It has got potential.

Purple Puddles
Intriguing. Would want to read the next chapter for sure.
