The Birth of a Leader In Death

Made up face
Resting grace
All so at peace
A life's release
Passing throng
Moving along
Itís just a man
You understand
Pretend to know
And feel sorrow
Leaders leave
Fools to grieve
He knew you not
And cared for what?

An amazing, tight, piece of writing as two-thirds (or so) of the words rhyme, and it seems effortless.

A thought-provoking poem. It reminds me of the period of mourning following John F. Kennedy's assassination. So much mindless grief. Of course, as the decades have gone by, expressions of grief have become the only things which hold Americans together. Hell, we set the flag at half mast about every two weeks these days. Currently, they've been lowered to commemorate the mass killing in Texas.

Leaders lead but what if we don't want to follow?
