Psalm 3

God of power and might,

God of song and silence,

God of beauty and breath,

God of sweetness and sleep,

God of frost and rain,

God of sun and blossom,

God of December and June,

God of heaven and earth,

drive far from my soul,

drive far from my heart,

all those trivial testy things

that pinch and bully and shove,

all those loud smallnesses

that clamour for attention,

that curse and belch,

that preen, pout, and bluster.

God of sanity and sweetness,

make for me a hiding place

far from commerce

and the lather of advertisements.

God of purity, God of peace,

expel the demon of rude comedy,

rout the army of cheap cynicism.

Instill in me, your stumbling servant,

a spirit of awe and holy wonder.

Make me anew this night and every night,

make me anew this day and every day.
