This came to me just now as a music hall song from the late 1800's along with intro verse and outro music. I will probably take it down in embarrassment soon.

The Girl With The Lilac Ribbon (That Ties Up Her Hair)

Frown rhymes with down
For you are not around
But if I whisper your name
I can count upon memories to proclaim......

(pause)

The girl with the lilac ribbon
That ties up her hair
Tell me all is forgiven
Just to see you there

I am a boy with crooked feet
And a pimple on my nose
But when I see you dancing
My awkwardness all goes

The girl with the lilac ribbon
Holding up golden hair
To despair I am driven
Just to see you there

See these shining braces
I am so sick of gloomy faces
Take me for one more spin
Then throw me away again

The girl with the lilac ribbon
That ties up her hair
Even again bedridden
I will always see you there

(outro music)
