I know there are many great female writers that I have not mentioned here. The angst does not seem to translate with me unless they are male.

I am Shadowed

I am Homer
Grandiose and primordial in my essence
I am Dickens
Of morality in these classlessness lessons
I am Wells
With the vision of our past and tomorrow
I am Hemingway
Strong and humorless as all known sorrow
I am Bukowski
With all the pretense beaten from my soul
I am Steinbeck
With my meaning deep with narratives told
I am empty
I have a big hole that I try to fill with words
I am forgotten
In the shadow of all such lustrous kingbirds

I like the idea of how you formed this poem. Such greatness.
But I think you missed the last stanza:
This is David
A poet who has angels that translate.

one trick pony The PoetBay support member heart!
If I may,

You are Dave
Honest with your thoughts and generous with your praise

Lawrence Beck The PoetBay support member heart!
Obviously, you're not empty. Time will tell if you are forgotten.

Thomas DeFreitas The PoetBay support member heart!
I like both the concept and the execution of this poem!
