Overly cynical maybe.

Time and Money

Time stood at the rostrum
And looked into the crowd
The microphone turned on
But the volume wasn’t loud
Saying things so unpopular
The old people all turned off
Somewhere just behind him
Money gave a gentle cough
The turgid sound of banality
Envelopes us in its blanket
Even all the obvious answers
Are starving at their banquet
See banners for all the faithful
Hear chanting for those hurt
It seems in these modern days
Freedom is a slogan on a shirt
Time always relents to money
Profitability is an aging man
He counts bills and not bodies
Enjoying life's extended span

I feel you got it right. Nothing like a little truth during these cynical times we are living. I like it!

sometimes the truth can seem to be overly cynical but that's because the truth sometimes hurts

Very good, and I don't think it's overly cynical. Time is infinite, money is not, seems like a problem waiting to happen.
