I've had nothing to say in long time. This is what i have now.

Waiting on the Train

Waiting on the train

leaving this station

heading for the next destination

contemplating past, present, and future

more or less, in a restless state of mind

such a glare of a stare in these eyes

they've lost all of their disguise

long ago

blown away by the winds of time and living

Minding the luggage

labeled and strapped

packages of hopes and dreams

some crazy, heart-breaking schemes

laughs, tears, and fears--a concoction of wares

bought and sold, tried and true, dead and gone

all my own

untidy and presented for carriage

on the train

leaving this station

Watching the crowd

 an eclectic, chaotic horde

tickets, children, babies, dogs

colors become blaring as horns

melding into marble

The roar is hard and cuts my ears to ring

then mute

a silent din, the underlying rush oozes softly

leaving me to listen to my thoughts

as I  linger longer

wistfully, waiting on the train

leaving this station

Feeling the rhythm

the heartbeat of my life

an unstoppable soul journey through eternity

flashing by a plethora of memories

 I'm welcomed aboard

there's no turning back

faces, smiles, and tears lay the tracks

while I fade into the misty peace of Over There

sweetest longings of yesterday and tomorrow

meet me evermore

as I leave this station

heading for my destination...

I read this as your life. You are waiting for the next chapter, a chapter that hints you are close to the end, but don't know what may happen between now and then. Life is real now. You are who you are because of the things you carry in your luggage. These are things from your life that made you, you. At some point some of these things will be dropped along the way. The closer you get to your destination the fewer things you will pack. This is an amazing poem. I could write pages about it!

I love travelling by train. Especially in rural areas. I love the consistent sound the train makes on the track and you are right it is like a heartbeat. You do a lot of thinking on trains, especially about your past. I used to say "the click clack always takes me back". I enjoyed this very much although there is a hint of sadness in it.

There's something about this poem that invites the reader in, it has a wonderfully natural rhythm, etc. My favourite stanza is perhaps the one that describes the crowd, but I cherish the whole poem and add my voice to those who are glad to see you posting again!

What you say are very powerful images and emotions!
So glad you are back here.

On the train of life I feel the rhythm of your life, with nostalgia and there's no signpost to the destination. Beautifully crafted piece, love those lines "the underlying rush oozes softly leaving me to listen to my thoughts."
