Half-baked Haikus

1.

A leafless tree stands

In the middle of the field,

Dreaming about spring.

2.

Yesterday's showers

That fell on parijat trees

Washed their old sorrow.

3.

The crow flew away

From the eaves of my cottage,

Leaving a dull life.

4.

This dusky autumn

No one walks the dusty lane

Where is my lost love?

5.

In her eyes I saw

The lingering mournfulness

I saw myself too.

6.

Walking in Freak Street,

I hold my decrepit heart

In my yellow teeth.

7.

Our final meeting—

An abyss in memory;

Wine can’t fill up voids.

8.

Do not say a word—

Clocks stop ticking. Their hands freeze.

Time slows to a halt.

9.

Life on the highway—

A mad car ran over me

At midnight. I bleed.

10.

Will I ever write

Lines that do anything but

Bitch and whine and cry?

They are all good Bibek. I really liked 3 and 6. I am not into Haiku. I always felt that the form was so short that it is easy to get things to have various meanings that look clever.

These are fully baked. The last one made me laugh out loud.
