And look, here we are,
Standing together,
A pair of faded
Young lovers.

How many times
We rekindled that flame,
To shatter the dream,
Through fear of betrayal!

And, as you turned away
One last time,
I felt your pain,
As fingers of ice
Clutching my shivering soul.

I should have spoken,
And oh! the words were burning, burning,
My lips, my heart, my mind!

Turn back, turn back,
See! I shall tell you what I feel,
If I can find the courage,
This time.

Too late.

Will there be another time?
Another chance?
Or should I accept
It can never be?

I still wait
Though hope is
Nothing more than
an old photograph
Faded, stained
And only rarely

I love the last stanza. So true.

This poem makes my heart ache as I can feel it deeply. Beautiful sentiments we have all felt in our lives.
