A sonnet on the potential snares and pitfalls (or rewards?) of having friends with benefits.

Sonnet: "Friends with Benefits"

Your friends with benefits are no true friends.
Oh no! These loves when hurt are an ever-
tangled weed from which you must then defend
against when friendship and lust must sever.
Friends are no child's plaything to be misused,
or spent on horny nights of reckless whim
where prudence is forsaken and unused,
inviting injuries 'tween you and them.
But if you must love your most-desired friends
then do so carefully and lovingly,
avoiding treason to the final end
of love's contract e'er so more faithfully.
If you err in this and ne'er read or heard,
then you may deny they e'er gave their word.

I agree. Friends can be the best but not mixed with "benefits." You are right that they are not friends but it's the benefits they seek. Well done.

Nicely done. It often turns out like that.
