untitled

Splashing, thrashing, wetly crashing
rages the rolling sea,
like a wounded serpent swirled
in waves of misery!

Through gale and squall and eerie night,
this vessel from afar
follows the dim, faint, speckled glow
of heaven's compass star!

Traces of Edgar Allan Poe in the rhythms of the first stanza! (I intend praise: Poe was a master of metre.)

As always with your poems, very great care taken with the form. I think the short lines suit you very well!
