the power of if

oh   i saw a sight

it made me feel so   you know

achy   the near and far of it   so

so impossibly far   now   in the near dark

wine down to dregs    mood

i head to bed to imagine   it

is what i do best   if

were different   if    if    if   she   but

she did not   no matter   i will

close my eyes   play it out   my way

Wine helps you to do that. I am always amazed at how seeing something can change our moods so quickly. Great stuff.

There can be a choice with if, as there seems to be in your final two lines, it's hindsight than can be a problem. I enjoyed the wistful feel of this piece.

The power of such a short word: if, if, if ... how many times we've all said it. If changes dreams to stark reality to that which is and not for that we wish for: "if" ... sigh ...
