The Blue and the Green

I can't say that the seashore is prettier than
What I'm gazing out at now. I love to watch
The ocean waves come crashing in. I love
The plumes of wind-blown spray, the freighters
Slowly churning up their channels far off from
The beach, the screaming gulls, the flat horizon.
Nothing looms above the tossing water. Here,
One thousand miles in, the vista seems almost
The same. The wind blows waves through
Fields of corn, and cars and trucks pass on
A distant highway. Song birds chatter in the leaves,
And, on the green and flat horizon, nothing, but one
Water tower, looms above the trees.

Our planet is all beautiful when it's not crowded with us people. Both sets of images are equally pleasing, although my personal choice would include the sea. Beautiful poem.
