Those Who Care

All the tired people
Eyelids growing heavy
Minutes changed to hours
As night imposed its levy

Huddled close together
Under a primordial skyline
Nothing has changed much
In the passing cosmic time

Hope is in a child’s smile
Tomorrow cannot be ours
Little men in expensive suits
Will lose their obscene powers

The young will start again
Wiping our old slate clean
Life belongs to those who care
And are not afraid to dream

I like optimistic AND realistic nature of your poem. I worry that the young are facing adult realities all too soon these days.

Well done, J. R.

Thank God for the innocence and the yet to be contaminated next generation. How do we teach them before others taint them?
