The head-trip continues. The lilies mentioned are agapanthus or African lily, which thrive on the Scilly Isles. 'Yay!' :>)
The picture of Tresco is by a Cornish artist named John Dyer, and it features agapanthus in the foreground. 'Blue' :>o

Tripping to Tresco

The svelte sea ship appeared at St Mary's town quay
for the super-smooth mossops, dear Coo, and FT,
and they set off for Tresco through shimmering sea
singing flowery chorus the while…

All a-laden with lilies, of beauteous hue,
potted purple and pink, white and brilliant blue,
we are bound for the Gardens, to gift them to you,
figurehead of the Thames wreck of yore…

Glinty gulls flocked and followed the ship in its way
over wishering waves whooshing saltering spray,
and they opened their beaks to join ditty display
squawking flowery chorus the while…

All a-laden with lilies, of beauteous hue,
potted purple and pink, white and brilliant blue,
we are bound for the Gardens, to gift them to you,
figurehead of the Thames wreck of yore…

Flying fish leaped and landed both sides of the ship
in their silver-scale suits shining green with each flip,
and they widened their gills for the tributous trip
shrilling flowery chorus the while…

All a-laden with lilies, of beauteous hue,
potted purple and pink, white and brilliant blue,
we are bound for the Gardens, to gift them to you,
figurehead of the Thames wreck of yore…

Scilly seals rolled and rocked as the ship sailed to land
where the clear turquoise waters meet soft golden sand,
and they sat up to croon, looking glossy and grand,
barking flowery chorus the while…

All a-laden with lilies, of beauteous hue,
potted purple and pink, white and brilliant blue,
we are bound for the Gardens, to gift them to you,
figurehead of the Thames wreck of yore…

Well done, I read it in one breath such a lovely poem. I love it you make me crying it is so romantic and I love the sea and flowers so much.

One could sing this entire poem! What wonderful rhymes and rhythms you’ve developed with a lovely chorus to boot. I here an echo of Gilbert and Sullivan in this. Simply lovely.

What a wonderful journey :) I love the rhymes. You write so beautifully of a trip full of colour and life. My mental tripping never has the detail that you manage. Perhaps you are traveling first class :) :)

I do believe mind-tripping has it's advantages. I feel I've been there, and would not have been half so charmed as I am by this poem.

Though it's quite wonderful throughout, my favorite stanza is the one about the gulls,

"wishering waves whooshing saltering spray" Bravo!
