The party visits Tresco's Valhalla Museum, before continuing into the island's Abbey Gardens :>)

Voices of Valhalla

Upon the sea-swept Tresco Isle
a court of figureheads resides,
some stern, some sad, though others smile,
eyes closed or fixed on distant tides.

A court of figureheads resides
in rounds of lady, lord, and more,
eyes closed or fixed on distant tides
that hurled them onto rocky shore.

In rounds of lady, lord, and more,
they sing of storms of long ago
that hurled them onto rocky shore
in wind and rain and ice and snow.

'We sing of storms of long ago –
I, Palinurus, lost all hands
in wind and rain and ice and snow
and spilled my wares on Scilly's sands!'

'Aye, Palinurus lost all hands –
on Seven Stones I, Primos, fell
and spilled my wares on Scilly’s sands
with all souls taken by the swell!'

'On Seven Stones, aye, Primos fell –
I, Golden Lion, met Land's End
with all souls taken by the swell;
that night, the sea was not my friend!'

'Aye, Golden Lion met Land's End –
within the Pool I, Friar, sank;
that night the sea was not my friend –
it stretched a monstrous mouth and drank!'

'Within the Pool, aye, Friar sank –
the ocean turned a hellish place
it stretched a monstrous mouth and drank,'
all sing together, treble, bass.

'The ocean turned a hellish place –
it brought us to this staid display,'
all sing together, treble, bass,
while lilies bloom and palm trees sway.

'It brought us to this staid display –
some stern, some sad, though others smile,
while lilies bloom and palm trees sway
upon the sea-swept Tresco Isle.'

This poetic nimbleness reminds me of my sisters playing hopscotch as little girls—so light, so quick, so sure, so happy.
