Not to generalize, of course... but it does feel like people can't fathom how someone can find themselves into this sort of homeless, destitute state... like it's some sort of flaw of character on the victim who finds themselves in that situation... your words made me think that....

Ken you've expressed very surgically what I've felt for a long time. We can be smug and superior and look down on the homeless as "lazy" or "stupid" but we do so at our peril! The safety net we think is iron clad is really just a thread that can snap in a minute putting each of us in a position of being "homeless"
