The Tactile Feel of the Living

I am here and you are there
And in-between us everywhere
Are people with variegated minds
And all the things frustration finds

A phone can talk
A message write
Even smoke signals
If thatís what you like
But holding you is better still
For nothing can match the thrill
Of the touch of one to another

The tactile feel of the living
For all our other connections
Can be cold and so unforgiving

Dave youíre so correct. Nothing holds a candle to the touch of a hand on mine! Love and care are most intensely shared through the intimacy of touch.

Ah, yes --- for those days of "building community" the old-fashioned way, by "going out onto the road" or the coffee-shop or the pizza pad or wherever, and talking to someone "in real time"! A sharp observation, beautifully expressed.
