My Good Fortune

Am I so pathetic that just a word from her, written,
Not spoken, can banish the darkness surrounding
My life? You know me by now. You know that I am,
But let us not portray my wondrous fortune
So bleakly. Let's focus, not on me, but her.
She'd be the light of anyone's life: so buoyant
Of spirit, so very sweet, and inexplicably taken by me,
And she's lovely. Any runway model or Hollywood
Starlet would envy her beauty, and, so, though her
Power over someone like me, a wretch by almost
Anyone's reckoning, isn't surprising. Even a man
Much more handsome and confident would want
Her desperately.

Uh-huh! "Inexplicably taken by [you]"--now that's a twist that I haven't really found in your other poems.
