Sprightly Mr Time

Time does not stop to talk
He simply walks straight by
Like an ardent young executive
In white shirt and thin black tie
He carries an oblong brief case
Inside, his newspaper and lunch
I think he wears fake glasses too
But that is only a churlish hunch

If you ask how he is doing
Heíll remain so poker faced
He doesnít give out information
For heís scared of being replaced
Once I tried to stop him going
To hold on to him inside today
But he jumped like a jackrabbit
Springing sprightly up and away

So if you see a man rushing past
In a hurry but going nowhere
That will be our own Mr Time
Making us older without any care
A modern manifested White Rabbit
Who keeps us moving on our way
Late for all the things we will miss
While we ignore all the roses today
