Went for a short and aimless city walk today

Word Play On a Dreary Day

Today is draped in misty gray

A translucent fog that dreads the day

I've walked a bit challenging the way

Through wet streets as my treads sway

To miss the blackened plies that lay

Along the path in broad array

Vestiges of snow long past it's stay

No longer welcomed by kids at play

My concern that my legs would splay

Slipping as my meandering route today

Is burdened and held at icy bay

Wishing for an early May

This is a nice city walk. I chuckled when I came to "splay."

A winsomely splendid tour de force!
(All on a single rhyme, of course.)
