he old joke goes -
"What do you call a dog with no legs?
Nothing, because he won't come to you anyway."

It always seemed rather deep as opposed to callous to me

Calling a Dog With No Legs

Just what do you call me?
Do you know my name?
For a rose by any other
Has thorns for the pain
Call me Mr Grumpsalot
I am the squeaky wheel
Call me anything you like
The message or the seal
If I don’t like something
Because it has a bad stench
Don’t expect me to sit there
Behind you on the bench
Just call me Mr Lonelyboots
Beneath his own dark star
Put a dollar in the kiddie ride
And see if it gets you very far
I’ll remain with my anomalies
Being a fly in your ointment
For even flies have a purpose
In and outside of government

Only you and your mind can write a whimsical poem about a dog with no legs. Excellent accomplishment. :)

First, Dave, you are a master of your signature rhyme/rhythm form! Secondly, you theme is perfectly developed and delivered. I thoroughly enjoy reading you works and this is certainly no exception.
