Scene in Early March: 83rd Letter

Milwaukee bus-stop,

subzero wind-chill.

Steamy air emanates

from a sidewalk grate.

Two commuters

happily just met

share the square

during their long wait.

A deft sketch. Very nice.

I like to be an observer and create stories about scenes I pass as a passenger in a car. It is as if time stands still for a moment. I liked this although it sounds like the beginning or end of a long story.

The sub-zero reference got to me... as we are teetering between -2C and -20C over here lately. And when you're bound to bus times, and being around strangers during that time... the whole scenario spoke to me strongly. I don't know why, but every time I'm at a bus stop, complete strangers seem to feel compelled to talk to me about everything and nothing... That's what your write struck in mind for me. So I really enjoyed this... :)
