"Notre Dame" refers to the Catholic university in South Bend, Indiana, USA. "Notre" rhymes with "voter," and "dame" rhymes with "fame."

I think that I shall never meet
A cooler cat than Mayor Pete.
War veteran and polyglot,
Who else has got the brains he's got?

He speaks Norwegian and Maltese
And English, all with fluent ease.
His résumé is really great
For someone not quite thirty-eight.

He helms the home of Notre Dame:
A vote for him would not be lame!
When he's elected President,
His husband will become First Gent.

I don't mind Bernie, Liz, or Joe,
But Pete's someone I'd like to know.
Memo to self: I must remember
The name of Buttigieg next November.

I've been to South Bend a couple of times. It's a pit, but Pete seems like a good guy, the poem is delightfully light-hearted, and the title alone should win you some kind of award.

one trick pony The PoetBay support member heart!
if mayor pete gets all the poets' vote, how can he lose?

well done, and ever-hopeful is good for the soul.
