AS WE WALK THIS ROAD (Inspired By Marie Cadavieco Work Remembering)

As we walk this road of life
We age we walk
We meet so many people
Some become Friends
Of those some pass on
But they leave a connection
That connection - that is love
That love being the love of friendship
When they pass on
Memory's remain that gives us reasons
Reasons to smile and yes be happy
That they walked with us for a years after still
Better to have of had them in our life's
Than never had at all

Very philosophical and profound poem, Ken! I like that you seem to parallel choosing to love with choosing to befriend (the friends in our lives): that it's better to befriend (them) than to never have befriended (them) at all. And yet--as with loving--the existential and philosophical profundity (of your suggestion) is very practical, too. I am impressed. Very well done, my friend!
